The MEN Fair in Puyallup, WA this weekend!

The MEN Fair in Puyallup, WA this weekend!

Oh, sorry, did I forget to mention that MEN stands for Mother Earth News? Oops.

I’m heading north to Puyallup, Washington this weekend to the Mother Earth News Fair, an annual sustainable-lifestyle event at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. And in a random act of selfless sister-promotion, let me say that the primary reason I’m going is to hear my sister Vicki Miller’s presentation on raising ducks.

This is, I believe, the third time Vicki’s been asked to speak at this event; MEN also flew her to Pennsylvania last fall, and she’ll be traveling to Colorado later this summer for yet another presentation. She really is an expert on the topic of raising heritage poultry and pigs. In fact, her first book, Pure Poultry: Living Well with Heritage Chickens, Turkeys, & Ducks, is due out this fall (the link takes you to Vicki’s blog).

And don’t worry, you don’t have to know how to pronounce “Puyallup” to enjoy the MEN Fair— if you happen to be in the area (roughly an hour south of Seattle, not far off I-5), maybe I’ll see you there!

    1. I would have loved that too, Thea! ; ) It was really fun, and quite interesting— the whole fair is about sustainable living. I saw things like people demonstrating how to make an adobe oven! The list of exhibitors, demonstrators, and speakers (on the website) is almost mind-boggling.
